Air Force seeks high-performance computing gains

The Vanguard Center,  part of the Defense Department’s High Performance Computing Modernization Program, evaluates early-production HPC technology and provides advanced HPC tools to government researchers.  A recently issued broad agency announcement calls for white papers on solutions that can “advance DOD productivity through a modern HPC ecosystem.”

The BAA asks for ways to identify and exploit trends in HPC hardware and software to increase capabilities and decrease the amount of time spent in research and development.

Specifically, the Vanguard Center is looking for new HPC architectures, software, network and system approaches as well as ways of developing or updating legacy software and providing secure HPC access through modern browsers and devices.

The Air Force anticipates awarding one or more contracts through the BAA, which  has an overarching ceiling of $48 million.

The announcement will remain open until Dec. 15, 2021.
