Indian Government Approves Reliance Group licences for Defense Manufacturing in "Make India" Scheme


India's Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) has approved a batch of defence industrial licences proposed by the Reliance Group as the Mumbai-based corporation continues to expand in the sector.
Approved in February but only recently announced, the licences include approvals for several Reliance defence subsidiaries and a wide range of activities.
These include the design, development, and production of missiles, enhanced-vision systems, sensors, propulsion systems, rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft, combat vehicles, and simulators. Another licence was approved for undertaking upgrades on "all types of naval vessels".
Subsidiaries to receive the licences include Reliance Defence Technologies, Reliance Helicopters, Reliance Propulsion Systems, Reliance Aero-Structure, Reliance Land Systems, Reliance SED (Strategic Engineering Division), Reliance Naval Systems, and Reliance Unmanned Systems.
