The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) hopes to lease a Boeing 767-300ER cargo aircraft for at least 36 months for its Squadron Corsário based at Galeão Air Force Base.

A Request for Information was issued by the Brazilian Aeronautical Commission in Washington DC (CABW) to 16 companies that lease or operate the type; this led to four valid proposals. An invitation to bid was then issued with a 29 April deadline.

Brazil decided to lease an aircraft for logistical air transport because of delays in acquiring two multimission aircraft from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) as part of the service’s KC-X2 project to replace Boeing KC-137s withdrawn from service in 2013.
