Twice refugees, Palestinian family from Syria stranded in Greece

PIRAEUS, Greece–Grieving for her state, 22-year old Palestinian-born, Syrian-raised Shiva, who has five children and is stranded at Piraeus refugee camp in Greece, says that she just wants to cross the border and reach her husband in Germany.

“I have gone through many tough experiences and everywhere I go, I see even worse conditions,” said Shiva. “I have to go and reach my husband.”

Sitting on the ground and taking care of her children, Shiva told Rudaw’s correspondent that when she looks at her children and how they live, she sees her own childhood pain in their eyes.

Some 5,000 refugees, mostly from Syria, are living in Piraeus refugee camp, which is planned to be shut.

Refugees are complaining about their condition and want European countries to let them cross borders.
