The US Air Force (USAF) expects Boeing to miss the deadline for delivery of the first 18 KC-46A Pegasus aerial refuelling tankers, the service announced on 27 May.

“Technical challenges with boom design and issues with certification of the centreline drogue system and wing air refuelling pods have driven delays to low-rate production approval and initial aircraft deliveries,” Brigadier General Duke Richardson, the USAF’s Program Executive Officer for Tankers, said in the press statement.
