Brazilian company Colt Aviation has won an international tender to provide one Boeing 767-300ER aircraft to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) for cargo and personnel transport over a 36-month period.

The aircraft will receive grey painting with FAB symbols and emblems, and will be operated by Squadron Corsário from Galeão airbase on monthly payment for flight hours. Long-range military transport was performed by KC-137 aircraft before the type was withdrawn from service in 2013.

The FAB’s 767-300ER lease may be extended for another 12 months, officials said.

The USD19.7 million tender was run through Brazilian Aeronautical Commission in Washington (CABW), and called for aircraft with navigation equipment approved and certified for operations in all continents; operational availability of or greater than 80%; annual use of 1,000 flight hours; and equipped with auxiliary power unit, palletised cargo compartment, cargo doors, and LD-2 container compatibility.
