The U.S. Navy delivered the first three Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawks to the Danish Defense earlier this month. The aircraft will replace the force’s fleet of British Lynx through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales program.
The Danish Defense signed a letter of agreement for the aircraft in 2012. Deliveries of six more are expected by 2018.
The aircraft will be stationed at Air Squadron 723 at Karup Air Base in Denmark. They will conduct maritime surveillance, anti-surface warfare, force protection and utility transport operations. In the Arctic and North Atlantic regions, the Seahawks will also support austere regions, patrolling territorial boundaries and fisheries and search and rescue.
