This week, aviators from around the world trained together in Kosovo for Operation Icarus, an exercise that builds cooperation between the U.S. and NATO partners when responding to complex situations.
Military crews of the Kosovo Force (KFOR) and the Multinational Battle Group-East tested their techniques together to get a better sense of how they would work with each other under different procedures, aircraft and equipment.
In the region, more than 4,400 Kosovo Force (KFOR) service members rely on aviation crews. Those crews performed various scenarios that allow all troops to learn what to do in real situations, such as with medevac helicopters and mass casualties.
The flight crews are planning similar training in the future to improve overall readiness.
