Army awards $249M waveform services contract

The Army has chosen five companies for a $249.6 million contract to support efforts in the development of a component-based waveform environment.

Contractors will vie for orders under the Waveform Development Environment Ecosystem and also carry out network services, the Defense Department said in its Monday contracts digest.

Awardees are General Dynamics' Mission Systems segment, Harris Corp., Northrop Grumman, Rockwell Collins and Thales Defense & Security.

Solicitation documents indicate the businesses will work to research and develop innovative software, waveforms and modular components. They will also look to incorporate hardware and software components into an affordable ecosystem with a broad user base.

The companies additionally will evaluate new commercially-available technologies to select components for in-the-loop demonstrations and.
