No answers from German authorities on Yezidi Ashwaq's ISIS captor

The story of Ashwaq Haji has resonated in Germany as well as in the Middle East because the highly politicized nature of migration and Haji's persistence and the apparent lack of pursuit of justice in Germany for the Yezidi survivors of ISIS's brutalities.

Haji has explained to Rudaw how ISIS member Abu Humam bought her for $100 four weeks after the extremist group overran the Yezidi homeland of Shingal in August 2014. She got out of ISIS's hands in October 2014 before being granted asylum in Germany.

Haji has said she was stalked by Abu Humam twice in Stuttgart, Germany. He told her, her name and where she resided. Haji says she is ready to return to Germany if authorities there can ensure that the ISIS militant is found and brought to justice.

Rudaw's Ala Shali has continued to follow up on the case in Germany. She has spoken to German police, prosecutors, and Ashwaq's brother, Ibrahim at her former home.
