Nadia Murad receives Nobel Prize for raising awareness of sexual violence in conflict

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Yezidi Nadia Murad was named as a Nobel Peace Prize recipient for 2018 on Friday.

Murad, a native of Kocho in Shingal, received the award for her "efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict"

Denis Mukwege, a renowned gynecologist and women's rights advocate, was the other recipient for 2018.
