The White House is yet to issue a statement about their meeting.
Pence, an evangelical Catholic, is a vocal supporter of the rights of religious minorities in Iraq and the wider Middle East – particularly Christians.
He has spearheaded a package of funding to help these communities.
In the summer of 2014, ISIS militants attacked Shingal. The group killed thousands of Yezidis and took thousands more hostage to be sold into sexual slavery.
Murad, who escaped her captors, says Shingal is still too unsafe to return.
