In Davos aid agency seeks help, attention for Iraqi IDPs

DAVOS, Switzerland -- A refugee organization working in Iraq is seeking aid from international firms and foreign governments in Davos in order to assit internally displaced people (IDP) and refugees who are scattered across the country and live in miserbale camp conditions.

"I'm here like a Kurdish person to collect some aid," Peshraw Bakir, Chief Operating Officer of the Bring Hope Foundation, told Rudaw English in Davos.

Bakir's aim at this year's Forum is to "obtain medical supplies, clothing, tents and any hosehold appliances to refugees and IDPs."

Bakir said that his organization wished those prersent at the Economic Forum could visit Iraq and the Kurdisan Region and see the situation of the IDPs for themselves.

"We have a long term vision for future," Bakir added. "We want different companies and governmet be on the ground [with us]..  And we hope they help us rebuild hospitals, schools and houses."

"They have lost everything." Bakir said.

Bring Hope Foundation works in different countries across the world including Iraq.

Asked what challenges their oganization may face in 2019, Bekir said, "We've many problems. The refugees have lost everything. The basic thing [they] need is the rebuilding of their homes and cities, like Shingal and Mosul."
