Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to build an inclusive India on Thursday after scoring a landslide election win that he hailed as the "biggest event in world democracy".
"Together we grow. Together we prosper. Together we will build a strong and inclusive India. India wins yet again!," Modi declared amid nationwide celebrations by his right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The 68-year-old leader, who built a formidable campaign based on his tough national security stance, was showered with petals when he arrived flashing "V" for victory signs at the BJP headquarters where thousands of supporters waited.
US President Donald Trump sent Twitter congratulations on the "BIG" win and added: "Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm."
Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia, Emmanuel Macron of France and prime ministers Shinzo Abe of Japan, Scott Morrison of Australia and Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel were among world leaders to call Modi before the final results were even released, the foreign ministry said.
A rolling election commission vote count showed the BJP was on course to increase its grip on parliament with 303 out of 543 elected seats -- up from 282 in 2014.
It will be the first time in almost five decades that an Indian premier has been voted back with increased majority.
"The voting numbers in India's election is the biggest event in the history of (the) democratic world. The entire world has to recognise the democratic strength of India," Modi told cheering crowds.
The opposition Congress party was on just 52 seats, with Rahul Gandhi -- the great-grandson, grandson and son of three premiers -- conceding defeat and congratulating Modi.
The Congress tally only improved marginally from its historic low of 44 in 2014 polls.
In an added personal humiliation Gandhi, 48, also lost Amethi, a seat long held by his storied family, to a former television star running for the BJP.
The BJP headquarters in Delhi erupted in celebration with drummers, firecrackers, dancing and singing as thousands of party faithful waited in heavy rain for their leader.
"Modi will make India great again. Modi is the strongest prime minister India has ever had and will get. We need to support his policies to prosper," said one supporter, Santosh Joshi.
At Congress headquarters, a handful of dejected supporters sat in groups.
"We are sad but we will rise again. Modi won because of his lies and false promises. The country is in danger now," Rajesh Tiwari, a Congress supporter, told AFP.
India's main Sensex index breached the 40,000-point level for the first time as the count pointed to a Modi win, adding to strong gains since Monday.
- Fake news -
The vast size of India made the world's biggest election a marathon six-week endeavour.
The campaign, estimated to have cost more than $7 billion, was awash with insults -- Modi was likened to Hitler and a "gutter insect" -- as well as fake news in Facebook and WhatsApp's biggest markets.
Gandhi tried to attack Modi over a French defence deal and high unemployment and said the prime minister was dividing the officially secular country.
There has been a rise in lynchings of Muslims and low-caste Dalits for eating beef and slaughtering and trading in cattle, with critics saying extremists have been emboldened by the BJP coming to power.
- The watchman -
But Modi deftly turned the election into a referendum on his rule while depicting himself as the only one able to defend India.
He seized upon a suicide bombing, claimed by a Pakistan-based militant group, that killed 40 Indian paramilitaries in Indian-administered Kashmir on February 14. India launched a cross-border air raid and Pakistan hit back the next day.
The strikes helped Modi style himself the country's "chowkidar" ("watchman").
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday congratulated Modi and said he looked forward to working for "peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia".
Modi responded in a Twitter message thanking his arch-rival for his "good wishes" and saying he wanted peace in the region.
The messages came just hours after Pakistan said it tested a surface-to-surface ballistic missile capable of carrying conventional and nuclear warheads. India tested its latest supersonic cruise missile on Wednesday.
Analysts say Modi's victory could improve relations between the arch foes.
"The expectation in Pakistan is that there will be an incremental improvement in Pakistan-India relations as Modi's attitude would be more relaxed," retired Pakistani general Talat Masood told AFP.
Five challenges for India's victorious Modi
New Delhi (AFP) May 23, 2019 - With Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Hindu nationalist party re-elected in a landslide, AFP looks at the challenges facing his government over the coming five years.
- Jobs -
Modi in his first term fell short on creating jobs for the more than a million Indians entering the labour market every month, experts say.
A leaked recent government report showed that unemployment rose to a 45-year high of 6.1 percent in 2017-18.
Government jobs have seen staggering numbers of applicants, including many overqualified candidates drawn to the prospect of a secure position with perks. Last year 19 million applied for 63,000 positions at Indian Railways.
Non-farm sectors are hampered by stringent labour laws and insufficient investment in skills, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
- Farmers -
Many of those looking for work are those escaping from a dire crisis gripping Indian agriculture that has driven thousands of farmers to suicide in recent years.
Agriculture, with its allied sectors, is the largest source of livelihoods in India, with 70 percent of rural households depending primarily on it.
Farmers are finding it ever harder to water their crops as groundwater levels fall and monsoon rains become more unpredictable.
This has prompted extreme measures including curfews and armed guards near water sources while groundwater supplies in many areas have been contaminated by pollutants.
Farmers are also reeling from low prices for their produce and a lack of infrastructure meaning 40 percent of fruit and vegetables rot before reaching consumers, according to the UN.
- Pollution -
Modi had pledged billions of dollars to clean up the holy Ganges river, which like other waterways is awash with raw sewage and industrial effluent. But results have been mixed.
India's air is also a health hazard -- the country is home to 22 of the world's 30 most polluted cities, according to Greenpeace. Industrial emissions, car fumes and smoke from burning crops are creating a toxic cocktail.
Poisonous air was responsible for 1.24 million premature deaths in India in 2017, according to a study published last year by Lancet Planetary Health, which said tens of millions of people face serious health risks.
Every winter Delhi, the world's most noxious capital, chokes through haze so extreme that levels of airborne pollutants routinely eclipse safe limits by more than 30 times.
But the environment barely got a mention in the election campaign.
"Whilst the public across the world is generating awareness on environmental issues, it is clearly missing in India," Aarti Khosla, director of Climate Trends, a New Delhi-based initiative, told AFP.
- Hindu hardliners -
Modi on Thursday vowed to build an "inclusive" India but critics have accused his party of fomenting animosity towards the country's religious minorities, particularly its 170 million Muslims.
Under Modi, lynchings of Muslims and low-caste Dalits for eating beef and slaughtering and trading in cattle have risen.
Several cities with names rooted in India's Islamic Mughal past have been renamed, while some school textbooks have been changed to reflect Hindu right-wing ideology, culture and history.
With a new mandate, Modi will be under pressure from hardline Hindu groups that have long espoused "Hindutva", or Hindu hegemony.
This includes kickstarting the building of a temple in Ayodhya on the site of a mosque destroyed by mobs in 1992. That kicked off riots across Hindu-majority India that left some 2,000 people dead, most of them Muslims.
"Whichever government comes in power, we expect it took look at key civilisational issues like the construction of a grand temple for Lord Ram at Ayodhya," said a spokesman for one Hindu group, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
- Foreign policy -
Modi also faces foreign policy challenges, not least with Pakistan, against which India has fought three wars since partition in 1947.
In February the two nuclear-armed nations conducted tit-for-tat air strikes after a suicide bomb killed 40 Indian paramilitaries in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted on Thursday that he looked forward "to working with him (Modi) for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia".
India is also concerned by China's rising influence, especially Beijing's Belt and Road infrastructure initiative. One project passes through Pakistani-administered Kashmir which India claims.
In 2017 India and China had a military standoff over a Himalayan plateau claimed by Beijing and Bhutan, a close ally of India. Since then China and India have sought to patch up relations.
India also walks a tightrope between the United States and Russia, with Moscow still a major arms supplier to New Delhi including the S-400 missile system.
Modi made the S-400 deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin last October, defying US warnings of sanctions on countries buying Russian arms.

Beijing denounces US warship sail-by in South China Sea
Beijing (AFP) May 20, 2019
China on Monday denounced a US warship sail-by near disputed islands in the South China Sea as a violation of its sovereignty, amid mounting tensions over trade between the two countries. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) organised air and naval forces to warn the USS Preble to leave, said a PLA spokesman, after it entered waters near China-claimed Scarborough Shoal on Monday morning. "The relevant actions from the US side endanger the safety of both Chinese and American ships and personnel, an ... read more

Blunders are a way of life with Narendra Modi - the Tea Vendor PM Of India - whose mother Was a dishwasher. He correlates his mother with Ho Chi Minh who was a dishwasher in London.
ReplyDeleteThroughout Indian History - when men w/o pedigree, have ruled over India - they have destroyed India immediately thereafter. They all thought they were special, and from the grass roots. This is a apocalyptic trait peculiar to Hindoos.
To hide over the "shame of their birth and upbringing" and the "vicious physical and mental torture" as children - they "gravitate to extreme forms of menial thought and cruelty" - ignoring all sage counsel - as they feel it is a sign of courage and fortitude,in the face of adversity and pressures (Like the Kashmir disaster).

Ashoka - Born out of wedlock to a dancer (who was not a Kshatriya),was of ugly features, mocked all his life by his brothers (born from wedlock).
Net Result - Ashoka Killed all his family members, became a murderous savage - and then met a monk and became a Buddhist (easy kill for the monk). The Monk convinced him to set up a "Temple of Hell on Earth" (where insane and cruel forms of torture were witnessed by Ashoka and the Monk - what impact would that have had on Ashoka's cranium). His defective DNA - both his children left India forever and his wife poisoned the roots of the Bodhee Tree.
Ashoka beheaded 19000 Jain Monks in 1 Day.
Ade Shankara - Was called a Bastard by Madhavacharya. His mother was a Brahmin - and his father was unknown. All his life he suffered taunts from the lower castes and Kshatriyas w.r.t. his birth.Net Result - he immersed himself in religion and managed to enter the dead body of a king to have sex with the wife of the dead king. This man vented his entire hate of women,Lower castes, harlots. Kshatriyas etc. into his "magnum opus on Hindooism" - which treated women worse than aninals, and Dalits as "not even sentients".His magnum opus was "used to destroy Buddhists and Buddhism" (as his opus was a copy and paste pf Pali scriptures), cement caste and Brahminism - which led to the Mughal invasions and rampages. If the Dalits.in the millions, had stood up against the
Mughals - history would have been just the reverse. But the Dalits did not care - as the Mughals came to redeem the Dalits , Devdasis and Hindoo women

Exports from India = Total Disaster. So long as PRC exists - and the sea exists (with the commercial principles of Archimedes, for a ship), there is nothing which an Indian can make - which cannot be sold faster, cheaper, better and at a better quality by the PRC.The PRC conquered India 2000 years ago - via the Yueh Chi Tribe (who were kicked out of Imperial China).Indians excel only in making and cleaning toilets - which unfortunately cannot be exported - as Bill
Gates is making tolets in Africa
Defense Manufacturing in India = Total Disaster.Pakistan is exporting JF to East Asia and West Asia and Africa and has got orders from Malaysia - and the Hindoos are still struggling to make the Arjuna - MBT .Arjuna was a impotent, coward and a eunuch - as per the Mahabharata ! ReplyDeleteIt is the disaster of the Brain of Narendra Modi !
Part 1
Conversion Route (Elementary Level – rest to be submitted at the CIC Hearing)
• Party A has Rs 1 crore of Old Cash (which is obviously unaccounted) and the choice of paying tax and interest thereon has lapsed as there is no VDIS – and post Demo the deemed tax is 100% at the minimum
• Party B (Stage 1 Converter) has Rs 65 lacs of New Cash – which is given to Party A in lieu of the Old Cash of Rs 1 crores which is then given to Party C to X as under:
o Party C to X (Stage 2 Converter) are legal entities who trade in Nil VAT/ST products (or under Exemptions and /or Compounding) and are POS Retailers who then , make manual or backdated E-Bills for fictitious sales of items to unknown individuals and deposit the new cash into the bank
o Party C to X deposit the cash in banks whose books are open for 30-45 days before the date of announcement of the Demo or whose IT systems allow backdating of E- Bank Statements (within the period of reporting to the RBI and other Regulators)
• Party Z then taps Party A to convert the New cash Received of Rs 70 lacs into a capital entry to clean the cash at a rate of , say 15%, wiring Rs 59 Lacs to Party A, as a capital receipt etc, and taking the Rs 70 lacs of new cash from Party A
• Party Z which is basically front for Party B – hands the cash to Party B, after charing the custodial, logistics and security charges
• Party B then resumes the same chain as in Step 2 above, wherein the rate of the conversion, id.est., 30% keeps rising as the DEMO deadline appears
• Party A can convert the Rs 50 lacs into cash – new and old – at a premium, at any time that it is required
Notes
• Since converters had the new cash within a day and as per news reports , even before the announcement of Demo, they have to be part of the establishment
o If the converters had withdrawn the new notes from the bank, the banks would have tipped off the DRI/ED etc and possibly reported to the RBI – in which case they would be raided (but were not) or they would have to explain why large amounts of cash were withdrawn (for labour wages – although wages are not paid in Rs 2000 notes , agri payments etc) and on specific dates and how/why the banks were satisfied about the same
o Hence, if the converters got the new cash o/s the Banking system – that is fraud and PROOF THAT THE CONVERTERS ARE PART OF THE ESTABLISHMENT
o If the converters got the new cash from the banks – it is proof of collusion and fraud by the bankers, as past patterns of withdrawal by bank customers (for labour, wages, agri payments etc), would not support the new notes withdrawal
• Since converters had TO TRANSPORT CASH ACROSS LOCATIONS, IT WOULD HAVE REQUIRED SECURITY OR PERHAPS STATE SECURITY, they have to be part of the establishment as
o It is impossible that the state would not be aware of the logistics and security
o It is impossible that the state would not raid the cash movement
• Since Party C to X, who would have reported drastic increase in cash sales and deposit of cash into the bank , would not be able to support the same by PAST PATTERNS OF RAW MATERIAL PURCHASES AND TRADING PURCHASES AND SUCH LARGE AMOUNTS OF PURCHASES OF RAW MATERIALS IN CASH – COULD NOT HAVE BEEN JUSTIFIED BY PARTY C TO X , W/O THE SUPPORT OF THE ESTABLISHMENT
• IFTHE INFORMATION HAD BEEN PROVIDED BY THE PIO, THE NEXT STEP WOULD HAVE BEEN TO ASCERTAIN THE LOGISTICS PATH OF THE CASH MOVEMENT FROM THE PRINTERS AND STOCKING POINTS TO THE BANKERS
