DISA awards $87 million contract for classified mobile

The Defense Department’s IT support agency awarded Booz Allen Hamilton an $87 million contract for classified mobile enterprise services, according to contract documents.

The Defense Information Systems Agency first put out a solicitation in November 2018 to assist with government-owned mobile devices that access the DOD’s classified information network (DODIN) via telephone and information services.

While the contract award long predates the coronavirus pandemic -- it was entered into the Federal Procurement Data System Feb. 25 but wasn’t made public until last week -- it comes at a time when many DOD employees are working remotely and navigating the challenges of conducting classified duties.

The classified capability covers secret and top secret access and is expected to cover more than 4,000 users, according to DISA documents.

The Mobility Enterprise Services - Classified contract is a single award with indefinite quantity and delivery. It includes professional and engineering services and enterprise-wide support, according to solicitation documents.

DISA’s mobile enterprise services also has an unclassified component, which aims to cover more than 140,000 users and includes encrypted email, virtual private network access to the non-classified system and tiered permissions.

The agency issued a presolicitation for the unclassified contract in December with an anticipated award in May 2020.
