UN Security Council strongly condemns North Korea missile test

The UN Security Council has strongly condemned North Korea’s test-firing of a missile, 

saying that the launch violated UN resolutions even if it was a failure.

The council on Friday demanded that North Korea refrain from further actions in violation of resolutions barring Pyongyang from developing ballistic missile technology.

In a unanimous statement, the council said it would closely monitor the situation and was ready to “take further significant measures” against the reclusive state.

“Although the DPRK’s ballistic missile launch was a failure, this attempt constituted a clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions,” the statement said.
