The 28 EU nations agreed on 19 May to expand sanctions against North Korea by placing more people on the EU’s list of individuals subject to travel restrictions and a freeze on their assets.
The decision adds 18 persons – mostly high-ranked military officials involved in North Korea’s nuclear ballistic missile and other weapons programmes – and a state-owned entity focused on similar activities. The names of those targeted will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 20 May.
The decision brings the total number of the EU’s targeted people and entities in North Korea to 66 and 42, respectively.
